A good copy with spine nearly perished. Textblock bright and secure. Inscribed to Le Corbusier on front endpaper. Although uncalled for, Xanti Schawinskyıs signature on front free endpaper as well.
First edition (issued simultaneously in cloth). Ink inscription from author: "For M. Le Corbusier / in gratitude and appreciation / for all he has done to inspire / young architects everywhere. / New York, February 15th, 1950 /."
From 1948 to 1950, Blake curated MoMAıs Department of Architecture and Industrial Design where he had access to the Breuer material in the museumıs collection and to Breuer himself. This volume was Blakeıs first book; he would author 17 more, including LE CORBUSIER, ARCHITECTURE AND FORM.
8.5 x 11 softcover book with 128 pages with 196 b/w illustrations and plans, and an extensive bibliography, includes a list of his major works and statements made by Breuer on the subject of modern architecture.
